Human beings are not disordered. The symptoms we now have are rooted in our personal history and may have served us well at one point in time. I’ll help you understand why what your body is doing makes sense given your story, then together we can look at if you’d like to make any changes to better serve your present. As children we are brilliant, adaptive little creatures who develop creative ways to feel safe as we grow up in conditions which are sometimes less than favorable, or worse, neglectful or abusive. I will guide you in making peace with your past, gaining insight along the way into why you think and feel the ways you do.
Building self-love is the most important part of the healing journey. People generate the results in life they believe they are deserving of, and therefore to develop unconditional appreciation for oneself means we naturally attract better while confidently rejecting what is not for us. Unfortunately, many of us did not have parent figures who instilled a sense of worthiness in us, so it becomes our responsibility as we get older to cultivate that for ourselves. If we don’t, we will consistently choose people and life situations which do not align with what we deserve.
I am a holistic therapist who believes caring for your physical body is critical. Movement, nutrition, and sleep interventions can be powerful supporters of the healing journey. Through a polyvagal lens, I will guide you in learning to pay attention to the various states of your nervous system, and even how to gain a certain level of influence over those states. If you’re someone who is interested in building a stronger body and mind, we will be a great fit.
