Co-Founder

Dr. Sawyer brings decades of experience to Expanse which includes being a founder of The Remedy and working at organizations such as Minnesota Alternatives, Alltyr Clinic, Allina Health, and North Memorial Healthcare. He earned his A.B. in Psychology from Brown University before moving on to S.U.N.Y. Stony Brook School of Medicine for his M.D. and received his psychiatric training at Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Sawyer has trained in a variety of mind-body practices including mindfulness meditation, EMDR, hypnosis,Yoga, Mind-Body Medicine skills through the Center for Mind-Body Medicine in Washington D.C. He opened the first Mind-Body Medicine based psychiatric partial hospital program in the world while he was medical director at North Memorial Health Care.

Dr. Sawyer has also been trained in Medication Assisted Psychotherapy having orchestrated the first global cohort of training through PSI (Psychedelic Somatic Institute) with peers here in Minnesota in November of 2020 and implemented the first clinic in Minnesota offering this innovative treatment to patients. In collaboration with Expanse partners Paula Brandt and Ian McLoone, we orchestrated a second PSI training cohort of 11 Minnesota colleagues in October of 2021.
