Kyle Smyth
Therapist
Kyle has received his M.P.S. in Integrated Behavioral Health from the University of Minnesota (2019). Kyle’s B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Minnesota (2015) has helped to inform his clinical work. Kyle’s approach is interactive and dynamic, with the hope that new ways of thinking or understanding can help clients heal, explore, grow, or simply be. He became a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) in 2018 and has provided care for clients in a variety of settings since then.
Kyle is a mental health professional who has a strong commitment to a compassionate, whole person, client let approach to care. Kyle believes that the best way to support people is to help them find their own answers to their own questions, so that people can lead lives where they feel safe and happy on their own terms. Kyle’s training is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Relational-Cultural Therapy. Kyle’s approach emphasizes the importance of understanding ourselves both in terms of our inner world, the outer world we live in, and perhaps most importantly, the way the two affect each other. Kyle’s work primarily focuses on supporting individuals, though he has a passion for working for couples.
Prior to earning Kyle’s first college degree, he worked for a decade in hospitality and retail environments. His life experiences have helped him to foster a non-judgmental, down-to-earth approach when working with clients.
Kyle is an avid reader, photographer, and cook. While these days he is more likely to be home with his family, he has traveled extensively and loves to be exposed to new people, cultures, ideas, and experiences.
